about
I was working the dining room at a retirement home, the aides were removing the residents and taking them back to their room. There was one little lady left, sitting in her wheel chair, when the aide came to get her, the chair didn't move, 'They put the brakes on" she said, as she undid the brakes and rolled her away.
I thought..."put the brakes on"...that's a good opening line to a song...
"Put the brakes on....move to the shoulder...this won't take long....move a little closer...." and it just continued from there.
As I was writing this song...I am thinking there is no way I am ever playing this out in public, but the more i wrote it, the more I knew I couldn't keep this one to myself, especially since i wanted to record it with some brass instruments.
lyrics
On The Side Of The Road
Put the brakes on, cruise to the shoulder
This won't take long, move a little closer
Come on love me, on the side of the road (duh duh duh duh duh)
Put the tunes on, turn 'em up baby
Get your moves on, come drive me crazy
Come on love me, on the side of the road. (duh duh duh duh duh)
Yeah, don't be bashful, don't play shy.
You know I love a confident guy.
Unbutton that shirt and lose the tie,
Yeah, Love me as the cars roar by,
Come on baby...do us both a favor
Ba-by, love me like your favorite flavor
Ba-by, love me on the side of the road. (du hduh duh duh duh)
Put the brakes on, cruise to the shoulder
This won't take long, a-move a little closer
Come on love me, on the side of the road. (duh duh duh duh duh)
Come on kiss me, why are you hesitatin'?
Kiss me, what are you contemplatin'?
Kiss me on the side of the road. (duh duh duh duh duh)
Yeah, don't play bashful, don't be shy.
You know I love a passionate guy.
Unbutton that shirt and lose the tie,
Yeah, love me as the cars roar by,
Come on baby..you know you wanna do it
Ba-by, quit stallin' get down to it
Ba-by, love me on the side of the road. (duh duh duh duh duh)
Ba-by, love me on the side of the road. (duh duh duh duh duh)
Ba-by, love me on the side of the road. (duh duh duh duh duh)
